I really need to get back into blogging more often.. The problem is that I forget some of the finer details the further back I have to go and I liked it when I was using this blog to reflect at the end of the day.
Jessie got home around 6:00 and we (Kris, Amber, Sara, Jessie and myself) headed out to Providence to meet Kevin at Cheesecake Factory for dinner for his birthday. The waiter at Cheesecake Factory was amazing, he was able to spout all kinds of information about any of the cheesecakes and meals and took our table of six order with no pad. I had ahi carpaccio as an appetizer which was holy crap amazing, it's "Thin Slices of Raw Ahi Tuna, Wasabi Pesto, Creamy Avocado and Togarashi Aioli".. For dinner I had pan seared albacore which was also really really good, it's "Fresh Albacore Tuna - Seared Rare with Shallots, Garlic, Red Chiles, Cilantro, Wasabi Pesto and a Spicy Soy-Ginger Sauce. Served with Sauteed Vegetables and Steamed White Rice".. However good the albacore was I probably would have been fine just eating another of the ahi carpaccios for dinner. After dinner we went to Dave & Busters and played some games before heading home and to bed.
Sunday was spent as a lazy day hanging around the house which ended with us all (Kevin, Kris, Amber, Jessie, Sara and myself) going to Empire Buffet and scaring the locals.. We were having a pretty implicit discussion and the people at the table next to us were laughing a lot.
I just got back from watching Obama's inauguration and speech.. What a great speech to start his presidency.. I tried to bring it up on my laptop for CNN Live and got a waiting room screen so I ended up hurrying down to the break room and got there just as they were announcing him.. Speaking of Obama, I ordered the circle logo bumper sticker for my car.. I want to show my support for him during these next 8 years.
So, back to Monday.. I am teaching Invista this week, this is the first time I am teaching this class since I was qualified back in December and the better thing is it's a new version of the class that I hadn't seen yet. So far it's been a great class, I came in on Monday and found that one my old friends from the PSE lab is in my class this week.. I was talking to Sara during the day and decided I would make a flank steak for dinner tonight which of course means I need to fix my oven. If you don't remember I broke the latch lock on the oven on Santamas Eve and have been far to unambitious to actually fix it. I got home yesterday and finally took the top of the oven apart and fixed the latch.
After fixing the oven we did some laundry and got pizza at Pyzzz. The pizza I got was dairy free, I got goat cheese, bacon, olives and green peppers with red sauce. Speaking of pizza, I still really need to bring Lynz and Sara down to Engine 6 in Norwich CT which has gluten free pizza.
Back to Monday.. Me and Jessie got some time to relax alone on the couch and we watched the first two episodes of Scrubs from this season. It was nice to finally have some down time with her, it was a very crazy fast paced weekend so it was nice to just relax at home before ramping everything back up again...
Amber called a little while ago, she is at my house and will be coming to dinner with us tonight before heading back up to school for the semester.

Baracklyn Cyclones
The New York Mets announced that the Brooklyn Cyclones (A ball team) will be changing their name to the Baracklyn Cyclones for a game on June 23rd. They will be wearing red, white and blue uniforms and will be giving out a Barack Obama bobblehead..While the name change and bobblehead giveaway will be the undisputed highlights of the evening, the club has already announced a wide range of other innovations.
The first 1,000 fans will receive "Universal Health Care" in the form of a complimentary Band-Aid, and -- as part of the team's "Clear-Cut Exit Strategy" -- American flags will be handed out to fans as they leave the ballpark.
Additionally, a "Bi-Partisan Consolation Prize" insures that anyone named "McCain" or "Palin" gets in free, and plumbers with the first name of Joe will receive two free tickets thanks to a "spread-the-wealth special."
I think this is a great idea and think it would be cool if they did the name change for the entire season to celebrate our new president.

I've been running Get Data Back on Kaitlyn's hard drive, it dropped ready the other night and I had put it in the freezer for Laire weekend. I started it again on Monday morning and it failed again Tuesday night. I put it in the freezer and decided I would run it in parts so that it does not heat up too much. I ran it in 10 gig chunks last night and managed to get 20 gig before it started to flake out. It's currently back in the freezer and I will run a few more chunks tonight. If you are not familiar with Get Data Back it's a program that scans broken hard drives for any data it can find, it can even find data that had been formatted. As long as the drive can spin it will find something.. Think about that next time you want to delete files off your PC, they say that if you want to really get rid of data you need to format the area 7 times...

I recently got the demo of Streets and Trips 2009, it will run for 30 days without activation so I installed it to make sure it worked on my work PC. Streets 2008 never worked because there was a conflict between it and the way EMC has our CISCO security program setup. I have been running 2009 now for a few days and it has been working so I will go buy a real copy soon.
Speaking of CISCO.. The A's are having problems with the city of Fremont, apparently the city feels that if they build a stadium there it will bring in a bad crowd so they don't want to let CISCO build the stadium. They are currently trying to convince the city that they will not bring in a bad crowd by having a stadium. The people in the city are going to vote on it in the next few months. If they deny the stadium CISCO will be looking for alternative locations to put the stadium. I thought they had broken ground on it already, but I guess I was wrong.. So much for it being open for the 2011 season..

Yesterday I mentioned I wanted to talk more about dinner on Tuesday.. Well... I made a southwestern tofu/rice dish and it came out a bit too spicy for me plus the idea to make a salsa/sauce out of the veggies didn't work well. The texture was all off and the spice was too much making me not want to eat it. The good news was that Sara made her black bean and sweet potato filling for burritos. We also had ground venison, ground faux beef, faux chicken which I did a great job of spicing, cheese, veggie cheese, guacamole and salsa for the burritos. John brought some of his home made pastrami which was "holy cow" great and Lynz brought some of her amazing cookies.. Kevin made a cheesy shrimp asparagus pasta dish with thai style rice noodles, I think it was his best dish to date, I'm glad I took a Lactaid so I could eat it without causing stomach problems.. So, yeah.. The Lactaid thing has been helping a lot, I am ready to admit (un-happily) that it's dairy that was kicking my ass all this time.. But, as Lynz said, at least there is something I can take to make it so I can still eat dairy. Her food problem (wheat) has no such pill or medicine so I really can't bitch..
After dinner Lynz and Joe started playing SET on the floor. Me, John and Drew were talking over them and started calling out sets so we ended up joining the game. The first hand (when I was standing and talking) I came in 2nd place, the next hand I did much worse. I guess the trick to playing was not focusing too much. Speaking of SET, did you know that there is a Set Daily Puzzle on their website?! After SET John and Lynz left and I played Cro-Magnon with Sara, Kevin, Joe and Drew. Sara won and I came in second, stupid word section is so annoying..
I leave for Australia in two weeks from today so I'm hoping to get as much time with everyone as possible till then.. To that note Lynz is coming over tonight, Kaitlyn is coming over on Friday and I'm going to have lunch with Sara on Saturday.. I guess it's true when they say pimpin' ain't easy, but it sure is worth it though..

Snow rehab?
I went to Laire this weekend and played "Brother Hawk". Brother Hawk is my Southern Barbarian Druid/Warlock wannabe, he currently casts low magics and is a pacifist which means I can avoid any real combat and quick movements. Unfortunately (or fortunately) what I can't avoid is the snow.. I brought my walking stick and after putting some foam on the sharp pointy end I was able to use it in game. I have to admit, I've always seen people walking with walking sticks/canes and I never really got it. Don't get me wrong a good walking stick can be real nice when you're walking in the deep woods and need to test ground before stepping, need an extra balance point or need to push/pull something closer to be able to step on it in a river/stream, but other than that I always felt like I was just carrying extra weight. I certainly never got why people need to use them when walking on flat even ground. Well, I get it now...
Friday night I just worked Logistics and hung out before going to bed. I played all day on Saturday, I stayed in the inn for most of the day but I did walk to the cabin once to get clothes to change into Daimone for after feast. Kevin came down and NPCed the event which was cool to have him there, I hope he continues to come down with me and Amber. Saturday night the three of us and Al went to get sushi instead of eating the in game feast. After feast I came in as Daimone, I probably did more in the few hours I played Daimone than I did in the rest of the event. Saturday night I was walking back to the cabin by myself to go to bed and it seemed that the walk was never going to end.. I had to take very small steps and keep my eyes down on the ground in front of my feet to make sure I didn't step on any ice, every once in a while I would lift my eyes and look at how much further I had to go. It reminded me of Monty Python's Holy Grail when Lancelot was running towards the castle and they kept showing him running in the distance. I was actually getting frustrated at how long it was taking me but I did a good job of not speeding up.
So, I forgot who told me this but I was told that the best kind of rehab I could do for my ankle would be to walk on the beach because the foot would sink into the ground but not twist. I would say that the snow had the same affect. I might have hated walking in the snow while I was doing it but in the end I think it did a lot of good for my foot. Maybe I can convince Jessie to go for a walk tonight after dinner.
----
I just realized that next Tuesday dinner is Obama's inauguration.. I'm so excited for him to take control of this country, perhaps we can get back to the Clinton glory years. If you've missed them you really should catch up on his YouTube videos, he has done a great job of going over some of his economic recovery plans.

Hillary back in White House!
I am so happy that Hillary took the post of Secretary of State. I am glad to have her influence in the White House, she was my second choice for president in 2008 (first was Kuchinich). I think Barack is doing a great job of bringing people into his cabinet that will make sure that we have a very successful presidency. He is pulling both democrats and republicans into his cabinet which is going to make him more popular on both sides of the aisle.

My foot is killing me today, it was throbbing a bit earlier. Right now, it's up on my desk trying to get the blood flowing back out of it. Dinner tonight should be fun even if I have to spend it on the couch, Sara's house is going to full tonight. Confirmed attending is - Sara, Ryan, Kevin, Kristen, me, Jessie, Lynz, John, Joe, Rowan, Anja, Rene, Libby, and Caity. Matt, Sile and Daniel are waiting to see if they can get a roofer to look at the house they want to buy, if they can't get anyone to come out tonight they will be there too.

Seibu Lions win Asia Series
The Asia series ended on Sunday with the Seibu Lions winning the Asia series. The Asia series has been in effect for 4 years and Japan won it all four times. The first ever series was won by the Chiba Lotte Marines in 2005. The Nippon Ham Fighters won it in 2006 and the Chunichi Dragons won it in 2007. This years standings were:
Tianjin Lions - CBA - 0-3
Uni Lions - CPBL - 2-1
Seibu Lions - NPB - 2-1
Sk Wyverns - KBO - 2-1
They count runs scored vs runs allowed to break the three way tie to determine the final two teams. The final game was the Uni Lions vs the Seibu Lions. The Seibu Lions won 1-0 with the only run being scored in the 9th inning!
The first ever female was drafted into professional baseball! I would love to say it happened here, but.. It happened in Japan. 16 year old Eri Yoshida was drafted in the 7th round in the Nippon League amateur draft, she is a sidearmed knuckleball pitcher who struck out the only three batters she faced in her tryout. She will join the Kobe 9 Cruise next year.
----
I will not be at our communal dinner tonight because I'm going to see Jonatha Brooke with Lynz, this was the concert that got cancelled back in October. Originally Glen Phillips was opening for her and playing guitar in her set but Glen cancelled after his accident and she cancelled shortly afterwards. Glen will not be with her tonight, there will actually be no opening band. I called the Paradise and they said they don't know yet if she is planning on doing two sets or just one longer one. I'm happy about the concert but also sad that I will be missing Rene's birthday dinner..
----
Tomorrow I'm having my right Achilles tendon lengthened, the recovery time should be about four weeks. Two weeks with a hard cast, two weeks with a soft cast and then time to strengthen my foot/leg. Hopefully I will be able to have my second surgery (left foot) in the beginning of January because if not it will have to wait till March because of my work schedule..
----
Laire was amazing this weekend, Mark Struzzi has shown once again that he is the best head of plot that game has probably ever seen. This month was the 200th event of Laire and they did a really cool trip down memory lane. The 5 Lions Inn went back in time to some of the more critical events in Laire history so that we could do things in the past that were never clear on how they happened. We did a bunch of jumps and out of all the jumps I was only not at one of them. I have been playing Laire since it's first event but I took a break for a few years after me and Jessie moved to MA because I felt it was too far to drive.

Two Quick Links - Worldwide Celebration
Cosmos Rocks?
The new Queen + Paul Rodgers CD showed up yesterday and I've listened to it a few times between last night and this morning. Last night I listened to the first three songs and was kinda disappointed by the fact that it is not Queen. As a first listen I found it sounded more like Bad Company than Queen which makes sense because Paul Rodgers sings 2 of the first 3 songs. This morning I started over and found I was still cringing a bit on the first few songs, I found myself thinking each song was getting progressively better than the song before it. The last track is a reprise of the fourth track and I found myself loving the reprise but I remember not really thinking it was very good when it was track 4. I decided to let the CD repeat and it was almost like listening to a different first few songs, I found that on the repeat this morning I really liked those songs, some better than the later tracks.
I don't really think the CD gets better with each track I think I let go of it not sounding like Queen a little bit each track so I was able to enjoy it more and more as it went on. I will say that right now I like the Brian May sung songs better but I've always been a big fan of his voice.
When you listen to this CD try to remember that the band is not Queen anymore, I know it's hard to do but the "+ Paul Rodgers" tied to the band name is the key to really enjoying this CD. I think this CD is a good blend of the Queen and Bad Company sounds, I would have like to have seen more Brian May but it is worth buying.
I still don't have access to the Queen +Paul Rodgers Album club, I emailed Queenonline to try and get that figured out. I did go to Brian's Soapbox here is his blog from Nov 5th.
Congratulations to America. And your brave new leader.
Wishing you, in this memorable moment, all that you dreamed of.
Love Bri
I added Brian's Soapbox to my links page. I also checked the tour information and they now have dates listed for Brazil. They are coming to America, just don't have dates yet. Tonight I am going to the Millbury movie theater to see Queen + Paul Rodgers live, they are airing the first show of the tour.
We Believe I put up a new version at 1:15PM on 11.06 because the one I had was cut..
I believe there's just once chance in this world to hear our brothers
We believe there's a better way to fight
I believe we need a hero to step boldly from the shadows
We believe there's a deed of obligation
Every father every mother knows the meaning
We believe there's a song that's worth the singing

We Believe I put up a new version at 1:15PM on 11.06 because the one I had was cut..
I believe there's no evil out there we didn't have a hand in
You believe it's a time for peace and a time for understanding
Some of us believe that we are chosen
And if god is on our side we'll win the game
And some of us believe that there's a heaven
When the trumpets sound and the judges call your name
But let's get it straight...
I believe there's just once chance in this world to hear our brothers
You believe there's a better way to listen to each other
We don't get what the other guy is saying
We hear the words but we don't understand
So around the world the same old anger raging
And we all cry for shame and the same old tragedy goes down
We believe there's a better way to fight
There's a way to make our children safe at night
We believe there's a war we could be winning
But the only way to win it is to give what we need to receive
I believe we need a hero to step boldly from the shadows
You believe there must be someone on the scene that fits the bill
A man or a woman who knows how to say i'm sorry
With courage in his heart to match his creed
A leader who can build a brand new morning
And match the tide of changes
Match the intent with the deed
We believe there's a deed of obligation
To bring reconciliation
To make peace with every nation - in our time
We believe there's not a minute we should be wasting
When the darkness falls it's too late to fix the crime
It's peace that we need
Every father every mother knows the meaning
Human treasure that our leaders do forget
And the bullets fly in the face of common reason
And the pain we give is the legacy in the end we get
We believe there's a song that's worth the singing
It's a song of truth we're bringing
There's a way to share the earth with everyone
We believe every creature has a being
Has a right to respect and feeling
To live and breathe and flourish in the sun
That's what we believe
That's what we believe

Obama wins!
Lynz sent me a blog from Jill Hussein C. You should check it out, it's very well written (I stole this pic from there).. There's really not much for me to say except thank you America for voting in Obama! I'm really looking forward to the next 4-8 years, I have a lot of hope that he can fix the shit Bush brought to the US. I don't know if he can get us all the way back the Clinton golden era but hopefully he can get us close. I really think we will see almost immediate results because the rest of the world is breathing the same sigh of relief that we are. My class this week has a bunch of people from Europe in it and they are all celebrating almost as much as the Americans are.----
Last night we had a great dinner. The food last night was very good, Kristen made a rice dish that we put in lettuce with hummus for an appetizer. Sara made a great salmon dish, Sile made some really good pea soup, and Kevin made chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. I did not make the rice balls because of time restrictions so instead I made a shrimp scampi spinach salad.
After dinner Joe, Kristen, Sara, Kevin, Ryan, Jessie and myself all played Apples to Apples. Joe was winning but ended up having to leave early, after he left I staged a massive come back victory.. :)
When Matt, Sile and Daniel got there little Daniel walked right past all the adults and right into the living room to see Rene and everyone. He did come back and give me a hug after he had been playing for awhile.. I was glad to see Rowan come out of his shell last night, he really got into hanging out and playing with the other kids. This had the added benefit of freeing Joe up to hang out with the adults.. Libby came out a little after Daniel left wondering where he went, it was pretty cute..
Lynz and Anja couldn't make it because they went to an election party last night instead... Missed you guys, see you there next week..

Too many connections?
Somehow I keep getting more and more connected this friggin web.. Figure it's about time I took my section of the tubes..
I just created a youtube page and a flikr page. I posted 8 videos from Japan on my youtube page today. I will continue to add new videos I take with Camera Phone as I take cool things worth sharing. I may, depending on how bored I get, add older videos there too.. Don't worry, if I do I will probably make some sort of mention to it here.
I wanted to upload two pics from Great Big Sea and decided they shouldn't go in my japan pics link because they are not from Japan. So, now I have a Flikr site so I can upload pics that I want to share. As with my youtube page, I may go back and update that site with some older pics. Yes, I'm sure I will mention that here too..
The links are in my "Random Links" section...
Happy viewing.. :)

Communal Dinner tonight.. I am making rice balls for everyone's enjoyment, there will be three kinds tonight (tuna, shrimp and mushroom). I'll take a picture of them and post it tomorrow.. :)
Did I mention how much I like my MicroSD to USB adapter? I have this little adapter that's made by SanDisk, it was like $10 at the Verizon Store and it makes transferring pictures from my phone easy which means I can do it on a regular basis instead of once in a blue moon.

It's 10:15 and I'm shocked that CNN has no results up yet.. Maybe this year they will be responsible about posting results? Wanna bet they call East Coast states by 1pm.. I really wish we had a media blackout today. It's gotta suck to be getting out of work in CA and finding out that your vote does not count because one candidate already won so many states. This thought of course brings me back to the rant about our Primary election system.. Why in the name of fuck do they not hold all primaries on the same day! Let everyone have an equal chance to vote for the candidates they want!

Today I went to Tokyo Disney Sea.. I woke up early because I wanted to get there for when the gates opened at 9am. Grabbed the JR Chuo line over to the Tokyo station to connect to the JR Keiyo Line (not to be confused with the Keio trains)... The Tokyo train station is enormous, it's a good ten minute walk from the JR Chuo line to the JR Keiyo line. Got over to Disney around 8:30ish, Disney Tokyo is two parks (Disneyland Tokyo and Disney Sea), Disneyland is pretty much the same as the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland California so I had not intended on going there. They actually do not have a single ride in Disneyland Tokyo that I have not already been on in either CA or FL. In order to get from the JR line to either park you have to take the Monorail. First stop was Disneyland, when I saw the line waiting to get in I nearly crapped myself. Unfortunately the Disneyland line was not as big as the Disney Sea line!! I got off at Disney Sea and went to buy my ticket, Disneyland was sold out today and tomorrow! Disney Sea apparently holds more people because they still had tickets, thankfully..
Disney Sea is broken into multiple "lands" just like other Disney Parks. In each land they have 2 to 4 "Attractions" and there are 7 "lands". Some of the attractions are "DisneySea Electric Railway" and "DisneySea Transit Steamer Line" which bring you from land to land. All in all there are 19 actual attractions and a good number of those only for kids. The lines were amazingly bad! The shortest line I waited in was 70 minutes and that was because I had a "fastpass" for that ride, yes it was 70 minutes after the fastpass spot! The longest one was 3 hours which was for Stormrider. The lines for food were out of fucking control too, I don't know who the hell would wait in a 80 minute line for a fucking sausage sandwich. I walked by the line the first time at noon and saw the sign with the wait time and laughed, I walked back around 1:30 and the line was still 80 minutes. The had "X min wait from here" signs on the fucking drink carts which were normally 20-30 minutes. 20-30 minutes to get a drink! I drank water out of the water fountains. I ended up eating a pork pita and a churro from the Arabian area, I only waited 45 minutes in line. I went back to the sausage line at 3:45 and it was still over an hour wait! If that park was built in Rollercoaster Tycoon (a game for the PC if you didn't know) it would fail due to lines. The crazy thing was that everyone was waiting. I guess the Japanese know how to wait in line! By the way, before I get off the food topic, trying to be wheat free in Disney Sea is impossible. The food here was just like the food in Disney World, it was totally American sandwich style for everything. And yes I am a bit gassy now.. :(
In general I would say that Disney didn't really pay much attention to Japan with this park, once you walked into the park you might as well have been in Florida. All the signs were in English (with Japanese under the English in smaller print). The staff all spoke Japanese but the rides (with the exception of two) all had English narration. When I got back to the JR train I felt like I had returned to Japan. One more food thing I forgot to mention, they had "Mets Grape Soda"! No, I didn't try it.
So the lands were as follows: This is in the order I visited them..
Mediterranean Harbor
Fortress Explorations was the big thing here, plus this is where all the big shows ran. Fortress Explorations was a castle they built that you could walk around, they had rooms from different explorers like Leonardo DiVinci and Michaelangelo. It was pretty cool, plus it had the highest view point so you could see a good view of the park.
Mysterious Island
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth were here. They are both amazing rides. 20,000 Leagues is not the same as the old crappy one in Disney World, this was one of their story book rides, but it was done real well. Journey to the Center of the Earth was a indoor/outdoor roller coaster which had a pretty nasty drop at the end. The drop was made worse by the fact that you came out into the sun shine as you crested the hill so it blinded you as you went over.
Mermaid Lagoon
This was pretty to look at but everything here was for kiddies.
Arabian Coast
Again, mostly for small kids, but they did have the Sinbad's Storybook Voyage ride which was another story book style ride that used the same boats as It's a Small World. Nice puppets and catchy Japanese song.
Lost River Delta
This was the adult area, it had Indiana Jones Adventure and Raging Spirits. Raging Spirits is the one I had the 70 minute wait on after the fast pass. What happened was I got the fast pass, went to the Sinbad ride and then came back and got in with my fast pass. I was pissed that the fast pass only cut off some of the line. Raging Spirits was a fast rollercoaster that did a loop, it was good but it was no California Screaming. I did not go on Indiana Jones, the line was never under 2 hours when I walked by and I had seen it in Disneyland so I figure no need to waste the 2 hours on that.
Port Discovery
This had two of the coolest, most unique rides, Stormrider and Aquotopia. Stormrider was the 3 hour wait and I have to say it was probably worth it. It was one of those movie rides and the premise was that you were flying these new type weather sensor machines, during the flight your partner ship crashed into you breaking a hole in your roof. Because it was raining they actually rained on you, not a little either. I walked out wishing I had a towel. Another cool thing is that they had windows on the sides and actually had the side view movie playing there too so it really felt like you were in the plane. Very nicely done. In Aquotopia you got in these boats and it ran around a little body of water, the boats however didn't just go straight, they would go straight, turn quickly, spin, go backwards, spin again, turn quickly. Basically they just threw you around for a few minutes and you got wet in a few spots, but not as wet as I did in Stormrider.
American Waterfront
Yeah, seriously.. They had this whole section that was supposed to be Cape Cod which had rocks along the sea which reminded me of the rocks in RI. The only ride here was Tower of Terror which I didn't go on because I had been on it enough in Disneyland and Disney World.
I also took the Electric Railway from Port Discovery to American Waterfront at night. Once I finished riding everything (6pm) I walked around the park again to see it in the dark. The park is very pretty at night and unfortunately my camera stinks in the dark.
I saw the two big shows (Legend of Mythica and BraviSEAmo). Legend of Mythica was cute, it was basically a bunch of floats riding in a circle with Mickey up on a platform in the middle controlling everything. BraviSEAmo was amazing! They had water jets doing cool waves and such, then a boat came out with a female made up of water and she sang in an Anonymous 4 style. She went across the lake and left and then the lake caught on fire and the volcano erupted water and fireworks as a big dragon came out of the water singing a very dark deep song. Once he made his entrance the water lady came back and they appeared to have a battle, everytime he would sing the water would catch on fire and fireworks would explode everywhere. When she sang the water waves would dance and spray water into the air. In the end she won and they two just stood there looking at each other. Neither of their songs were in English or Japanese, they were basically chant type stuff.
All in all I would say Disney Sea was worth it. I probably would not go on a Saturday if you could help it. I bet it would have been MUCH slower during the week, but alas I have to actually work while I'm here..
----
Two cool things... One - I ended up singing the Totoro end credits song with a father and son while waiting in line at Aquatopia. Two - I was able to understand the conversations from time to time and I was able to understand StormRider which was all in Japanese. I would say if I were here for like 3-6 months I would probably say I would be able to speak Japanese with some level of quality.. :)
I did copy pics of my phone.. I am planning to post 39 from today and 31 from yesterday but those will have to wait because it's 12:30 and I have to get up early again to go to Studio Ghibli.. Depending on what time I get back tomorrow I might have time to resize/post them. If not you will have to wait till Monday when I'm bored at work..

They played hard, give 'em both a win!
I just got back from the game.. When I was done teaching I headed over to the Tokyo Dome and went to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame. It was very small but had some cool stuff in it, the lady gave me an English guide so I could read about all the exhibits. They had uniforms from all the current teams and a history of Japanese Baseball, the other day I said the Japanese league was formed in 1950, it was reformed in 1950.. They did have baseball before WWII but that ended for obvious reasons. The new league formed in 1950.. When I went to the Lions - Fighters game they used the DH so I assumed all Japanese ball did, I was wrong.. The Pacific League uses the DH and the Central League does not. So tonight I got to see real "National League" style baseball. The HoF also had the World Cup trophy on display as well as the different Japan uniforms for all of their historical national teams.
The Tokyo Dome is wonderful from the outside, they had a roller coaster which was closed due to rain and a few other kid rides around the outside of the stadium.. They have the biggest Baseball Merchandise store in Tokyo attached to the store as well, they actually had hats and shirts from every team, well - almost every team.. They were sold out of Marines shirts.. I did get an Orix Buffaloes Mascot stuffed animal, the Buffaloes have the same mascot they did when they were the Blue Wave.
Inside the Tokyo Dome it just looks old, it was built in 1987 and reminds me of Stade de Olympique but with way smaller seats. My knees were touching the seat in front of me and my arms were up against the arms of the people next to me and all three of us were skinny people. We kinda took turns leaning forward and backward so that we could fit.. What a difference between this and the Seibu Dome.. It was however a real dome.. The field has a ton of foul territory so even though I was closer to the field than I was in Seibu I was further away from the action. They had the same thing where the players ran out through a cone of cheerleaders, the cheerleaders came out in the 5th again and danced on the dugouts. They did the YMCA during the 6th inning. The 7th inning was very short, the mascot came out and shot shirts into the audience. By the way I say the mascot, but there is apparently a family of them.. A mom, dad, son and daughter.. They are very cute mascots.. I just really wish the Giants did not take a name from American Baseball, I feel that they are trying to be like America instead of taking on a new name like the Dragons, Lions, Ham Fighters, Marines, etc...
The more I think about the more I really think American Baseball should take the 6pm start times, it makes the game much more kid friendly.. Especially on weekends..
Right, so the game.. The game was a really good pitchers duel for a little while, the Giants scored 1 in the first, the Dragons jumped out with 3 runs in the 4th, the Giants came back and went ahead 5-3 with a 4 run rally in the 6th. The Giants gave up one in the 8th and brought in their closer to start the 9th. He hit the first batter with the second pitch, the pitch hit the batter in the face and he went down hard, they had to carry him off the field. The pitcher was ejected from the game for the hit batter. The new pitcher allowed that run to score and that would be the final score.. The game went 12 innings and then just ended! Apparently in Japanese Baseball a game is a tie after 12 innings, but you can't have a tie in the Climax Series so both teams get credited with a win!! What kind of horse shit is that? I say keep playing the fucking game... The game ended up being 4 hours 45 minutes. I loved watching this game and was a bit bitter that it ended when it did. Even with the seats being uncomfortable I sat without getting from the 1st pitch all the way till the 11th inning. In the 11th I got some water and moved closer to the field because a bunch of people had left.
Best part of Giants stadium is the food, oh my god... :D Here let me put in another one.. :D I had a crab and roe sashimi box for dinner! For dessert I had a Crepe filled with Banana, Chocolate and Ice Cream.. I thought it was odd that they had both Pepsi and Coke at the game, in Japanese stadiums all the vendors who walk around with stuff are girls because guys want to be served by girls while watching sports.. Keith Hernandez would love that... The beer girls have kegs on their backs and pour your beer right when you order it. The soda girls had trays of cups of soda.
----
I was talking to Toni and Rob today on IM and Toni mentioned that I should see if the original Iron Chef Japanese has a restaurant, he does.. It's about a 5 min walk from Sakai's restaurant.. Oh man, what do I do now for next week. I am certainly going to eat at Sakai's, but should I do the full circuit? I could even do the 2nd Iron Chef Japanese as his restaurant is over by Disneyland Tokyo.. Things to think about for sure... Problem is that work won't let me get away with that many expensive meals.
----
I just dropped off my laundry and should have it back tomorrow when I get back from Disney. I am not going to be putting up any pics tonight because I have to get to bed. I took a bunch and need to sort and resize and make the webpage for them. I might be able to do it tomorrow when I get back from Disney.. Disney opens at 8am and closes at 10pm so depending on what there is to do it might be a long day.

Palin Brushing Up On Foreign Policy At Epcot
This is from the Onion.. I was going to post a link, but I figured a blog with nothing but a link would be pretty lame.. :D
ORLANDO, FL—Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin sought to silence those who have criticized her lack of foreign affairs experience Tuesday by announcing plans for a weeklong, 10-nation tour of Walt Disney World's Epcot. According to Palin, the trip—her first past Frontierland—will include speaking engagements at Norway's famous Viking ride, sausages at Germany's Kaufhaus, and, time permitting, a fact-finding mission to Future World. "This ambitious trip should finally demonstrate that I am ready to assume the vice presidency, whether by standing in long lines at Morocco's Tangierine CafĂ© or by sitting down face-to-face with Mexico's Three Caballeros," Palin announced during a campaign stop outside a Chinese restaurant in Tulsa, OK. "All of our neighbors deserve good diplomacy, from the Universe of Energy down to the French pavilion." Palin also promised a visit to the American Adventure exhibit before returning home, adding that she hoped to learn more about her own nation and the diverse peoples within.

Ya Gotta Believe
Can't the republicans come up with a different shtick? I didn't watch the debate last night, I really don't need to waste my time.. The only reason to watch debates is if you are unsure who you are voting for.. Why do the republicans feel the need to use the liberal label as if it's the worst insult you can use..
This is an interesting "fact check".. Might be the first time in a long time that CNN is actually saying people should look at facts?! What an idea for a news network...
In other news - Paul Newman died today at 83 of cancer. He did a lot of good in his life and it's unfortunate that he is no longer with us.. Good luck on your next journey..

I was talking to Lynz this morning and somehow we got on the topic of Bill Clinton.. Imagine how awesome it would have been if when he was confronted with having sex with Monica Lewinsky he just said something like "yeah, I had sex with her. Man, that chick gives great head".. Think of it, no impeachment, no scandal.. Would have been even better if Hillary had said "What my husband does with the whores who work for him is his business and I don't know why you (the media) feel the need to make it public"...
----
I ordered three books today. Yes, actual books.. I am even going to read them.. I ordered "the Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse", "4400: The Vesuvius Prophecy" and "4400: Wet Work". The Chocolate Bunnies was released on Audio but only Abridged.. The 4400 books have not been released on Audio and there is no plan to release them..

Today's Mets game is currently in a rain delay, they have a scheduled start time of 1:45.. We really need the Miracle Mets this weekend or else they will be watching October Baseball for the 2nd straight year...

So much of the problems in the world are caused because people are afraid of what others think.. If everyone who did things "against societal norms" would admit it publicly I think we would find that "societal norms" are very different from what everyone thinks they are..

Rainy sleepy days...
Are John McCain and Sarah Palin really real?? Do people really think this duo of idiocy can run the country? I guess you figure if one idiot in the white house can cause eight years of excellence just imagine how much more excellence two idiots in the white house can bring.. /sigh
Just watched My Name is Earl - two half hour episodes aired last night.. Both very good, the 2nd episode had a really funny line when Randy was talking to his mom.. I'm not going to put the quote in here because if you watch that show and have not seen the episode I don't want to ruin it.. :)
Lots of rain this weekend.. Hopefully the Mets can get their final three games in and sweep the Marlins.. The Mets are 9-6 against the Marlins this year.. The Phillies are playing the Nationals this weekend, the Phillies are 9-6 against them too.. Should be an interesting weekend.. The best part of the schedule is that the Brewers are playing the Cubs... If the Brewers lose the Mets and Phillies might both make the playoffs..

Lay down your arms and gather your friends, gather your friends!
Dianne called Jessie tonight and I answered the phone cause Jessie was playing with the litter pan.. Well, turns out Dianne has a blog on livejournal, from her site I found Alice Riley's blog and Joe Dolce's blog..
Added them to my links gadget..
As Glen says, "lay down your arms and gather your friends".. This blogging thing is a great way to keep up with people.. If you have a blog or know someone I know that has a blog shoot me the link.. :D
And a little laugh, or cry... John McCain ad?
And one to certainly bring a smile to your face.. Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Leader of the Free World
If America wants the president to be the leader of the free world perhaps we should open our elections up to the entire free world.. Think of this, every person in the world gets to vote.. Each country gets a certain number of electoral votes depending on if you're an ally or not. That way the educated world can out vote the stupid fucking ignorant assholes in America!!!
I actually removed someone I have known since High School today from my Myspace page because of a bulletin they posted!
I am so sick of dumb-ass Americans who hear some outlandish thing on the stupid 24 hour news networks and then believe it without looking it up to make sure it's not some stupid fuck reporter making shit up because it makes good news!

Everyone in Europe loves Obama!
Last day in Frankfurt.. I don't think I will be staying at that Courtyard again.. First - they charge for internet which is pretty common, especially in Europe.. Second - they don't a gold/platinum member lounge.. Third - Breakfast is not included and is VERY expensive.. Fourth - They make you pay for parking.. Fifth - The Bed is crazy hard.. Sixth - The checkout process sucks, they don't do the normal Marriott quick checkout.. seventh - Although they are only 10km away from work you have to take 4 major highways.. Not to mention the fact that the main Marriott is in Frankfurt center and has an underground station attached to it and EMC has an underground station about 2 blocks away.. Next time (and yes, there is a next time) that's the way to go.. Maybe I'll remember this by the time I book that trip.. :)
Crazy weekend ahead... Fly Frankfurt to London on British Air, fly from London to NJ on Virgin, go to Laire and try to stay awake.. I hope I can either borrow somebody's shaver or that I can plug mine in when I get to Laire, I have way too much of a beard to play Mr Jax..
Speaking of Laire.. Amber's car died, she is going to get a ride to NYC and John Molina is driving her to the event. Good news - I have someone to ride home with on Monday.. Bad news - I have to drive her to her school in NH, anybody want to go with me for that ride so you can keep me awake on the ride back?
I am sitting at the Frankfurt airport. This airport has two terminals.. Terminal 1 is the main terminal and has all kinds of awesome stores, bars and restaurants. Terminal 2 is the terminal I am in, we have McDonalds and a duty free store.. I just went into the gate area and there is a restaurant called Laxx. I'm sitting here trying to get wireless connection and the signal does not appear to be strong enough so.. I will try to post this once I get to London-town... I got to the airport real early, I drove a guy from class over with me and we went our seperate ways to check in and try to get earlier flights. Neither of us ended up getting earlier flights so we hung out together over in Terminal 1 for a few hours.. Good conversation and good beer.. Now a burger then a flight... Talk to you in London..
Now sitting in the London airport waiting for my flight to NJ... Amber called, her grandmother will not allow her to get a train to NY! So, Amber is not going to Laire, she is actually on her way to NH now to unpack for school... I guess Daimone will have to steal someone's weapons.. Maybe I can use the sword of the house of the sun...
I met a cool girl on the plane, she was born in Germany and lived in London for four years before moving back to Germany. She was on her way to London to her friends wedding.. We talked for awhile about how it was to live in London and how Obama was going to change the economy of the world.. It was a fun flight.. :)
